Quote :
Ian Lloyd (b. Lloyd Buonconsiglio, 1947, Seattle) is an American rock singer and songwriter, best known as the lead singer of the band Stories.
In 1971 Michael Brown and Ian Lloyd formed Stories. They released two albums "Stories" and "About Us" with a handful of Billboard Top 100 charting singles. Brown left before the band recorded their third and final album, "Traveling Underground", which was released under the artist's name, Ian Lloyd & Stories, and included the Billboard top 40 hit, "Mammy Blue".
All songs written by members of Ian Lloyd & Stories except "If It Feels Good, Do It" (J. Stevenson) and "Mammy Blue" (Giraud/Trim). With 1973's "Traveling Underground", Stories changed its name to Ian Lloyd & Stories and unveiled a new five-man lineup. Lead singer Lloyd (a whiskey-voiced belter comparable to Rod Stewart and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant), guitarist Steve Love, and drummer Bryan Madey were still on board. But keyboardist/composer Michael Brown (a graduate of Left Banke and Montage) was gone, and the new members were keyboardist Kenneth Bichel and bassist Kenny Aaronson.
"Mammy Blue" is different from the other songs on "Traveling Underground". A long way from the R&B leanings of "Mammy Blue," tracks like "Stories Untold,""Hard When You're So Far Away," and "Earthbound-Freefall" favor the type of baroque art-rock approach that had worked so well on Stories' previous releases.
"Traveling Underground" released by Kama Sutra (KSBS-2078) and is the work of a fine pop-rock/art-rock band that occasionally detoured into blue-eyed soul.
