Quote :
Background of this team dates back to 1963, when Texas Fort Uorts formed quartet "The Naturals". As part of Jim Rutledge (b. January 24, 1947; drums, vocals), Nick Taylor (guitar, vocals), Ed Grundy (b. March 10, 1948; bass, vocals), Dean Parks (guitar), the group lasted a couple of years, and leaving behind the single "Hey Girl", was renamed in "Crowd 1". After the release of several more minions Parks succeeded Lee Pikins, and with it appeared in the ensemble keyboardist Steve Hill. Nothing more interesting happened in the team until 1969 came. It was then that happened two key events in the career of the team: the name was changed to "Bloodrock", and musicians took under his wing manager "Grand Funk Railroad" Terry Knight.
The leader of the "funk" quickly arranged a contract with the "Capitol" and together with his new wards went to the studio, simultaneously drawing the artwork for their debut album. The sound of the first plate place reminds creativity "Deep Purple", but drunken singing Rutledge gave music "Bloodrock" corporate "rustic" hue.
Bloodrock best track on the disc become "Fantastic Piece Of Architecture" with "buried" in the body of the spirit "Doors" and "Melvin Laid An Egg" with interesting transitions between keyboards guitar gashes. In 1970 came the second plate, unpretentious entitled "Bloodrock 2". Team now has a drummer Rick Cobb, so that Rutledge was able to focus on vocal duties. Musically, the album retained the severity predecessor, but the lyrics are not as gloomy as before. The only exception was a sad epic "DOA" ("Dead On Arrival"), whereby the group and gained the greatest popularity. Single coil version of the song made it into the national Top 40, and the "Bloodrock 2" because it received gold status.
The third album, the team took seriously flirt with progressive, although behind her still the specter of "Grand Funk Railroad" and "Deep Purple". The trend continued slide into prog and "Bloodrock USA", although the popularity of the team is in no way added. In an attempt to attract the attention of the broad masses of the team company "Capitol" has decided to release a live album, but the idea has not justified itself.
Bloodrock In 1972, Rutledge and Pikins gone, and the post of atonement vocalist Warren Ham, brought into the arsenal woodwinds. Personnel changes very significantly affected the Sound "Bloodrock", and the band finally broke away from hardovyh roots, floated on the waves of art-rock. Team work is now more like creativity "Jethro Tull" and "Traffic", but it only scared off old fans, and the popularity of the ensemble, and without that not too high, fell to a minimum. In 1973, Cobb was replaced by Randy Reader, but after some time and the drummer resigned along with Taylor. Fill the vacancy by Bill Ham and Matt Betton, "Bloodrock" undertook to prepare an album with the working title "Unspoken Words".
However, the name plate label proved prophetic and, without waiting for the completion of the sessions, broke the contract, and the group immediately broke up. In 2000, some of the material from "Unspoken Words" was included in the compilation "Triptych", and in 2005, a charity reunion concert in aid prihvornuvshemu Hill, brought together on one stage Rutledge, Pikinsa, Grundy and Taylor.
