The second album by the American rock band "The Marshall Tucker Band". "A New Life" written in Macon (GA). As with the first album, all the songs for "A New Life" wrote lead guitarist Toy Caldwell, two of which he sings the main vocal track. Album notable participation of guest musicians, fellow spirit of southern rock - Charlie Daniels, percussionist Jaimoe of "The Allman Brothers Band" and the brass section composed of four people. Since the debut of "The Marshall Tucker Band", the group began to compare with "The Allman Brothers Band", as both groups had much in common. They both have southern roots, playing complex and delicate musical games and extended their composition due to long improvisations. But with the release of their second album "The Marshall Tucker Band" showed its own distinctive features. If the "Allman Brothers" come more from blues roots, "The Marshall Tucker Band" kept closer to the country. Special piquancy to their rich sound gives the mixing of elements of jazz, helped by an interesting game Toy Caldwell on guitar and Jerry Eubanks on flute and saxophone. The rhythm section in the face of Tommy Caldwell (bass) and Paul Riddle (drums) is always ready to experiment with rhythms. And, of course, it is worth noting typical of southern rock soulful polyphonic chants and very appropriate for the genre of voice of the lead singer Doug Gray.
