This album is included in the magazine's list of Q Best Psychedelic Albums of All Time. In 2003, on the list of Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time at # 296. In 2005 he was selected by the Library of Congress one of 50 albums for inclusion in the National Recording Registry ... It started with the fact that in 1964 Frank Zappa joined the band The Soul Giants as a guitarist and quickly became its leader. Team at his insistence, changed its name to The Mothers. Soon the band got a record deal with Verve Records, and at the insistence of the label changed its name to The Mothers of Invention ... the summer of 1966 the band released their debut double album Freak Out !, who became one of the first concept albums in rock history and one of the first double-rock albums. Added cost us almost $ 30 thousand (in the normal average budget of 6-8 thousand on the plate), which caused strong resentment management. Despite the enthusiasm of critics, the album is nothing but losses, the group did not bring. But meanwhile the composition of Mothers Of Invention grew: the group came two saxophonist, keyboardist and drummer. When recording the next album, the band announced that they have no right to spend on recording more than eleven thousand dollars. Released in 1967, the second record was sarcastically called Absolutely Free (absolutely free), and turn the cover was an inscription: "To get the full libretto send as much money as you can, but not less than one dollar, to address ...". Absolutely Free shocked America mocking songs. After the release of the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Zappa released a parody of it - the album We're Only in It for the Money (We do it just for the money). Especially notable was the album cover, which was done by artist Cal Schenkel, representing a stylized envelope Beatles Sergeant, but turned inside out (outer side - on the scenario, the alignment - outside). Participants Mothers Of Invention in the photo wearing a prostitute, and the name of the group is lined with rotten vegetables. The shape of the music (or call yourself) Zappa was a synthesis of various styles in the most unexpected proportions. On the following albums Frank increasingly conducted crossing experiments of jazz, rock and classical music, not forgetting to write music for films. However, in 1970, Zappa disbanded at the time of Mothers of Invention.
